Lava 20 is a moisture-curing, solvented PU liquid membrane that forms a bubble-free, jointless waterproof layer with high elasticity and crack-bridging to ~2 mm. It remains flexible down to −40 °C and handles continuous service up to ~80 °C (short shocks to ~200 °C). It’s UV colour-stable and vapour-permeable enough to avoid moisture build-up under the coating. 

Where it works

Use it on felt/asphalt (BUR), GRP, EPDM/TPO/PVC single-ply, concrete, timber/OSB/ply, metals, insulation boards and old acrylics/coatings. Ideal for roofs (flat/pitched), balconies/terraces, podium decks, green roofs (root-resistant), plant boxes and trafficable areas (light foot traffic with the correct build). 

Why it’s trusted

Certified under ETAG 005 with ETA05/0197 (CE marked), used in W2 (10 yrs) and W3 (25 yrs) categories depending on build. BBA Agrément 20/5752 and BROOF(t4) fire performance noted. Mechanical data includes elongation > 400–600 %, tensile strength ~6.5 N/mm² (ASTM), Shore A 65–70. 

Life expectancy & coverage

• 10-year service: 1 coat @ ≥ 1.8 kg/m²

• 20-year service: 2 coats @ ~1.5 kg/m² per coat

  On porous substrates (e.g., concrete/felt/asphalt), allow ~3 kg/m² total. Always prime first. 

Cure & weather

Rain-resistant in about 30 minutes at 20 °C; tack-free ~2–3 h; recoat window typically 12–18 h (max 48 h); light pedestrian traffic ~18–24 h; full cure ~7 days (20 °C/50 % RH). Application possible at 0 °C; ideal 5–35 °C. 

Colours & finishing

Supplied in light grey. For colour stability or dark finishes, overcoat with Lava 20 Top Coat (clear or coloured). Broadcast aggregate into the wet coat for anti-slip. Clean tools with PU/xylene solvent.
